SBS sports are for SBS rostered players. If you are down players for a week, you may ask other league players to play on your team. If you feel it is absolutely necessary to bring a friend that is not on the team - it must be addressed with the referee before the start of play. They must also bring a signed waiver for EVERY night they fill in. Without exception. For example, if they play for 2 nights, they must BRING and fill out 2 separate waivers.
Effective immediately:
In dodgeball, if we find out this rule being broken and you are playing with a player without a waiver, you will receive losses for all 10 of your team's games for the night regardless of actual results. If we find it broken more than once, you will be asked to leave the league.
- Teams are comprised of 6 players
- You are allowed to have 10 players on the roster
- Teams have 6 players to start the game (you must have a minimum of 3 of your team's players to count - any less count as a forfeiture)
- You must have a minimum of 2 girls on the court to start the game
- The object is to have the last player standing at the end of the time limit. This is accomplished by getting players OUT as explain below.
- There is no time limit per game; however, each game will last for approximately 3 minutes.
- Each team will start behind their respective end lines until the referee blows the start whistle
- The balls will be placed at the centerline at the start of a match and each team must race to the middle to gain possession of a ball. The players must not cross the centerline (red) in any form of fashion when going for the balls. Any player who crosses the center line will be considered OUT. You may not throw a ball at any player until you retreat behind the restraining (blue) line. To count, balls must be thrown below the neck. Any player who, at the discretion of the Referee, is found to be ducking intentionally to hit his/her head will be considered OUT.
- If a player intentionally ducks (moving into the path) into an oncoming ball and consequently gets hit in the head, they will be ruled out. If they are moving in a manner to block their body with their head, and gets hit in the head, they will be ruled out
- The referee will call you OUT for the following reasons:
- A ball, thrown by an opposing player, hits you below the neck, and is not caught by you.
- The opposing player catches a ball that you have thrown
- If you have a ball in your hand that you attempt to deflect with, and the force of your opponents throw forces your own ball out of your hands - you are OUT.
- If you or your team holds a ball for more than 15 seconds, this is considered a delay of the game. The last person holding this ball must roll the ball on the floor to the opposing team and is considered OUT. This will be implemented at the discretion of the Referee.
- You are not OUT if the ball hits anything or anyone else before it hits you.(unless it's a ball you're holding)
- If you have a ball in your hand, you may use it to protect yourself.
New Deflected Ball Rule: Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This rule is applicable for when a player is using a ball in their hand as a defensive measure to deflect an oncoming thrown ball. 1. If the oncoming ball is deflected or skims the ball the player is holding in defense but subsequently still hits them, they will now be ruled as out (unless they catch it – which will force the offensive player out). 2. If the oncoming ball is totally deflected away from the defensive player with a ball in his/her hand and hits another player, wall, floor, ceiling, etc, then nothing happens and no one is out.
- Your MUST stay within the boundaries at all times. You may chase after a ball to bring it back into play. If people on your team have already been declared OUT, they may stay on the sidelines and retrieve any balls that leave the court area. When they retrieve a ball they may give that ball to their team on the court. Players who are out of play MAY NOT hold onto balls. RELEASE IMMEDIATELY.
- Players not actively playing (players ruled out, or even other teams) MAY NOT retrieve balls still in the grey area. This area is clearly an active play area and only active players may be using this area.
- People on the sidelines may not enter the boundary of the court area at any time
- To win a game: One team gets the entire opposing team OUT
- Playoffs: Playoff games are played just like regular seasons games. It will be in the format of a double elimination tournament with seeded brackets.
- Players who are out must kneel off to the side or in the corner.
SBS reserves the right to modify the rules at any point.
